Travelling to Clare

WHEN TO ARRIVE FOR A COURSE AND WHEN TO DEPART

Students must arrive and depart on Saturday only. Arriving or departing on other days incurs extra costs (see below). Arriving or departing at times outside the times given below also incurs extra costs.

Travel Details can be sent at a later time. Do not book flights until a place on a course is confirmed.

WHERE TO ARRIVE FOR A COURSE:

FLY to DUBLIN – Go by BUS to CLARE (Castletroy)

Our MEET & GREET service takes the worry out of travelling. All students are met by our CELS Representatives for both arrival and departure.

Students should arrive and depart to/from Dublin Airport and travel to/from Clare (Castletroy) by public bus. Students may also arrive and/or depart from Shannon Airport but there is an extra fee of €60 per trip.

There are many flights that go direct to Dublin.  Aer Lingus (and other airlines) allow young persons aged 12 years and over to travel unaccompanied with a Form of Indemnity completed and signed by the parent/guardian at the origin airport.  The Young Person must keep this for their return journey.  See the Aer Lingus website for the full and latest details regarding this: http://www.aerlingus.com/help/help/forms/#.d.en1237

Travelling with Ryanair: Ryanair does not accept bookings for children under age 16 unless booked with someone over 16.  Ryanair website:        www.ryanair.com

Many other airlines also service Dublin Airport: this link gives all the options – https://www.dublinairport.com/flight-information/online-timetables

CELS strongly recommends that you book a seat for your child for the Departure flight. In this way early on-line check-in for the Departure Flight is possible. It allows the student aged 16 and over to carry their Departure Boarding Card with them and thus avoid long lines at the check-in desk at Dublin Airport.

Students under 16 travelling from Spain must carry an authorisation letter issued by the Spanish police before they will be allowed to travel. Students under 16 travelling from other countries may also have rules regarding unaccompanied minors. Parents must find out the laws that apply to their country before booking.

The CELS MEET & GREET service:

Teenage students are met by a CELS representative when they arrive in Dublin Airport and brought to the correct bus to Castletroy. Students are also met when they get off the bus in Birdhill and transferred to their Host Families.  Similarly, teenage students are also helped at Dublin Airport by a CELS representative for their return journey by ensuring that they check-in properly. Normally there are several students attending the course on the same bus.

These are our present CELS Meet & Greet representatives:

Roisin Casey CELS Assistant Meet & Greet Representative
Finnuala Williamson CELS Meet & Greet Representative
Finnuala Williamson CELS Meet & Greet Representative

Students must pay for the bus to and from Castletroy.  The bus fare is NOT INCLUDED in the course fee.  Return bus fare is 37 Euro booked on-line. CELS will instruct you which bus to book.
